Forensic Testing Service
About Us
Forensic Testing Services (FTS) provides accredited drug, alcohol and DNA testing for family law, social care and safeguarding cases.
Founded in 2009, we operate from a UKAS accredited laboratory in West Yorkshire and support courts, local authorities, legal professionals and private individuals with clear, court-ready evidence.
Our work combines forensic science with expert interpretation from qualified forensic toxicologists, helping decision-makers understand results in context and act with confidence.
Our Mission
To support the family courts in making fair, informed decisions.
We do this by providing comprehensive forensic analysis and expert opinion that meets the highest scientific and legal standards. Our in-house expert witnesses are available for court appearances where clarification, context or independent challenge is required.
We report all findings and explain what they mean, so courts have the full picture when making safeguarding decisions.
Our Vision
We want to see forensic testing used consistently, responsibly and with proper interpretation, so decisions affecting children and families are based on reliable evidence rather than incomplete results or assumptions.
Our Values
Integrity
We are committed to raising standards in forensic testing across the family justice system. We advocate for practices that properly serve both clients and the courts, including reporting that reflects the requirements of case law.

Transparency
We report all findings and explain them clearly. We do not decide what information is relevant to the court. That responsibility sits where it belongs.

Doing The Right Thing
We understand that our reports can influence the outcome of a family’s future. We do not take shortcuts in testing or reporting, and we treat every case with the seriousness it deserves.

Preventing Injustice
By ensuring testing is performed, analysed and reported correctly, we help reduce the risk of flawed decisions that may place children at risk.
