Sample Preparation Laboratory Assistant
This interesting and fast-paced role provides much variation in the day-to-day processing of case samples. Because we provide full, in-house training, we are excited to employ people from a range of different scientific backgrounds and offer opportunities for progression within the company.
This is a hands on role, processing client samples and gathering observations and data to pass onto the laboratory team for analytical processing.
What will you do in this role?
Your main duties will be to prepare hair, nail, blood, and urine samples collected from adults and children involved in family law court proceedings. You will use specialist techniques to align scalp hair, which allows for accurate segmentation into different time periods.
We work to strict SOP’s, in line with UKAS ISO/IEC 17025, and we are diligent in recording sample observations using our bespoke laboratory software.
We have a strong team ethic and work together to achieve our targets. You will be contributing to ensure our accurate, and detailed, reports arrive with customers by their due date.
What you need
· Have a determined attitude toward learning and continuous self-development
· Utmost attention to detail
· High numeracy and communication skills to record observations and data accurately
· A high level of dexterity and precision in preparing samples
· Competent in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and email
· BSc in relevant discipline (E.g. Forensics, Biological, Biomedical) (required)
· Experience working in a professional laboratory working to ISO/IEC 17025 standards (desired)
Schedule
· 8 hour shift
· Monday to Friday
· Flexi time
