FTS Technical Director, Paul Hunter, is an expert in the analysis of biological samples for substances (pharmaceutical and illicit) and bio-markers. He has made over 100 court appearances as an expert witness and regularly provides CPD and training for local authorities, solicitors, barristers, local family justice boards, judges and magistrates.
Paul has also co-authored a paper with Professor Alexander Forrest, which was presented at the TIAFT Conference in 2019. This paper concluded that toxicologists and laboratories reporting on hair strand analysis should move away from simply providing results by using cut-offs and that conclusions should be reached by providing evidence based opinions.
In 2019 FTS appeared in the Parliamentary Review as a Best Practice Representative
